Description
Energy Engineering Manager
The Performance Contracting Engineer (PCE) serves as the technical resource to the sales and operations teams responsible for identifying and understanding the energy and mechanical related problems within a customer’s facility. The PCE takes site evaluation information and develops comprehensive, cost-effective technical solutions that increase the operational and energy efficiency of the site.
This is a high-profile position that will be responsible for managing the PCE resources, providing technical consultation on current systems and future energy and operating efficiencies.

The PCE Manger will:
- Provide technical input for proposals and sales support.
- Contribute to the profitable growth of the business unit by understanding the vertical market opportunities and recommending an approach to the comprehensive technical services offering that will increase market share, exceed the customer’s expectations and provide HBS with a competitive advantage.
- Maintain expert technical understanding of energy and plant/facility operations within the vertical markets (hospitals, universities, schools, industrials, government and commercial buildings) and establishes a high level of confidence in technical competency through ongoing customer and third party partnerships.
- Determine the feasibility of the project and recommends course of action, including assessment of opportunity and risk areas.
- Conduct in-depth site surveys to identify mechanical and operating inefficiencies within the facility and uses the information to develop and design a comprehensive technical offering that may utilizes systems/services portfolio and which results in guaranteed long term operating efficiency and costs and savings to the customer.
- Work with the sales and operations teams and consulting engineers in developing the technical and financial components of the job to include accurate cost estimates, and savings and labor requirements.
- Participate in the final customer presentation by leading the technical discussion of the offering and responding to questions by the customer facility experts
- Work with subcontractors and consultants to ensure the quality of work is consistent with the requirements of the job.
- Meet regularly with the sales and operations teams to review the performance of the customer contract and in turn participates in the preparation and delivery of customer progress reports.
- Support the operations team in the delivery of the contracted projects, resolving design deficiencies and ensuring the energy saving components are achieved.
- Resolve problems that may arise after project completion in meeting the energy guarantee. Identify reasons for guarantee failures and/or develop necessary solutions to bring the energy usage back to acceptable levels.
Virtual Position - Will support the East Region of the US
Basic Qualifications:
- BS in Engineering
- 7 years of operational supervisory experience managing complex projects with multiple resources and reports
- 5 years experience in energy engineering or commercial HVAC
Preferred Qualifications:
- PCE Management experience
- Experience with high-level contract negotiations
- Experience with utility cost analysis, facilities management and life cycle cost analysis.
- Experience in project development and energy conservation program implementation.
- Strong project management, estimating and documenting skills.
- Design engineering and proficiency in Central Plant applications, cogeneration/combined heat & power (CHP) a plus.
- Experience in alternative & renewable applications a plus
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Certified Energy Manager (CEM)
- LEED Accreditation a plus
- Excellent commutation and presentation ability.
